Hey everyone, I been thinking from a while to do a complete renovation of my old house. The structure is still good, but the wiring, flooring and bathrooms need total change. The problem is, every contractor I talk to gives me totally different price. One says 25k, another says 40k for same thing! It’s honestly confusing and frustrating because I don’t even know what’s the real estimate supposed to be.
I been watching YouTube videos and reading some blogs and recently came across construction estimation services that claim to give you exact idea of how much your project will cost before you start it. They even say it helps you avoid overpaying to contractors. But I’m not sure how accurate those estimates are in real life. Like, do they just give a general figure or a detailed material takeoff with all costs written down?
My plan is to renovate kitchen, replace bathroom tiles, maybe add one small room for storage, and also fix the backyard fence. I want to get everything planned before starting so I don’t end up half way with no budget left. Some people told me these estimation services are good for large projects, but not sure if they can help for full home remodel like mine.
If anyone here ever used any construction estimation services for their house, please share how it went for you. Did it actually save you money or just another expense? I really need honest opinions before jumping into this. I’m trying to do things smart this time and not just depend on random contractor quotes again.
Thanks in advance everyone! Any small advice, suggestion or experience will help a lot.
